CSIR-CECRI'S Central Instrumentation Facility

The Central Instrumenatation Facility (CIF), at CSIR - CECRI, Karaikudi, has been created with an objective of providing all analytical facility under one roof in order to enable for the scientific community to carry out measurements for R&D work in various areas of science and technology.

CIF hosts various sophisticated instruments which cater the need of cutting edge research in many areas of modern science and technology. It also offers its users, a wide range of analytical methods/techniques for chemical /material analysis testing/characterization facility.

The CIF is organized into 8 categories, each offering a complement of sophisticated instruments and technical expertise to support Scientist/student research, industrial and educational outreach in the following categories:

  Microscopic Techniques - SEM, FE-SEM, HR-TEM & SPM (STM/AFM)
  Chromatography - GC-MS & HPLC
Thermal Analysis - TG / DTA / DSC & TMDSC
Magnetic Resonance - EPR / ESR & NMR
  Optical Spectroscopy - FT-IR, UV-VIS-NIR, Fluorescence/Photoluminescence & LASER Raman Spectroscopy
X-ray Diffraction Techniques - Powder XRD & Multipurpose XRD
X-Ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy and Surface Science - XPS (ESCA)
Elemental Analysis - CHNS, AAS & XRF
